Man of the Match: MF Jack Blake contributed to the Monarchs victory with a dominant display throughout the night in the midfield. Not only did the captain notch a goal from a well-taken freekick that found the top corner of the near post, Blake took 105 touches while taking seven shots and five key passes. Blake's leadership on the field showed on Saturday night to earn him Man of the Match honors.

The Monarchs used the majority of the possession - 61.7% - to fire eight shots on target with another five being blocked throughout the night. In the end, it was the chances that Monarchs took to give the Utah side four goals on the night.


What You Missed: In an exciting contest, Real Monarchs saw FW Damian German score his second goal in as many games while MF Jack Blake added to his scoring tally with a picture-perfect freekick and MF Maikel Chang tied up the race for the Monarchs Golden Boot with his ninth goal of the season. DF Kalen Ryden also became the 18th player to score in a Monarchs jersey and MF Cristian Calix made his Monarchs debut after subbing in for FW Luis Arriaga in the 82nd minute. 


So What: Real Monarchs SLC jumped over the competition into 4th in the Western Conference, sitting nine points below third place Fresno FC and one point over 5th and 6th place, Austin Bold FC and New Mexico United. The victory at Zions Bank Stadium also extended the Utah club’s home record to 21-3-3 and 66 points since opening Zions Bank Stadium in April 2018 with a +34-goal differential. The Monarchs now head on the road to Chukchansi Park for a chance to close the gap on the Western Conference table when it faces against Fresno FC. The contest is scheduled for Friday, August 16 where kickoff from Fresno, California is set for 8:30 p.m. MT and can be viewed live on ESPN+.
