Photography Requests
Real Salt Lake and the stadium maintain a limited number of head and shoulder portraits of players, coaches and officers, as well as venue images. USA Today Sports Images serves as the Official Photographer for Major League Soccer. Media outlets can also download high-resolution photos at http://usatodaysportsimages.com/
Transportation / Parking
Media members are asked to enter the venue through the South Parking Lot (formerly the Maverik Lot) located on the south end of the stadium. Media will use the Southwest gateas the dedicated media entrance and proceed to the Southwest elevator to the fourth-floor press box. All live TV trucks should park in their designated space inside the South Loading Dock area.
Gameday Credentials Application / Pick-up
Real Salt Lake media credentials and single-day parking passes will be available for pickup beginning two hours prior to kickoff of each game at the Media Services Will Call Window located at the southwest side of the stadium.
Print, Radio, TV press and photographers should take one of two main West side elevators, the southwest elevator or the stairs to the stadium's fourth floor. Photographers and field access ENG crew members are required to check-out photo bibs beginning two hours prior to kickoff in the Media Room on the fourth floor. Bibs should be returned following game at the same location.
Event Seating / Access To Press Box
All media will access the stadium press box using the West Side Main Elevator bank and/or West Stairs as well as the southwest elevator or stairs. Seating charts will be posted in various locations directing media members to their assigned seats and booths. All credentialed members of the written press working on deadline will be assigned a seat in the Press Box; as per Real Salt Lake policy, RSVPs are required for those desiring a seat in the Press Box in advance of event. Auxiliary press seating will be located atop sections 13 and 14 in the SW corner for those NOT filing on deadline.
Pre Game Media Access Policy
NO pre-game player interviews will be granted without a prior appointment via RSL Communications. Photo marshals and representatives from RSL Communications will sweep the field one hour prior to the game, removing those individuals without a photo bib or field access credentials. At this time, print media will also be advised to matriculate to the fourth floor Press Box or the auxiliary press area. Prior to the anthem, team photos and kickoff, photographers and ENG crews will be escorted behind the midfield touchline for pre-game ceremonies and player introductions.
Field Photographers
Prior to 1st & 2nd half kickoffs, photographers and ENG crews must decide from behind which goal they wish to shoot. If photographers or ENG crews wish to switch sides of the field, they can do so ONLY after the players exit the field at halftime from behind the east side field boards. There is NO west-side access allowed at any time. Photographers and ENG crews will go to their selected endline spots immediately after team pictures and coin toss as instructed by the photo marshals. During the match, photographers have restricted freedom of movement. Because space around the perimeter of the field is limited, no photographers will be allowed along the west sideline – including the bench area – during the match, nor is use of the players’ field tunnel permitted AT ANY TIME.
ENG Crew Shooting Guidelines
ENG cameras are allowed to shoot game action from the field level, or from the EAST side camera baskets on the second level of the stadium. By acceptance of RSL/stadium/MLS accreditation, ENG crews agree to abide by the accepted industry standards of film/video use for images they may obtain from the rights holder (i.e., use within a 72-hour window as part of regularly scheduled news or sports programming). No other rights are granted for any other broadcast or video applications.
Postgame Media Access Procedures
On-field postgame interviews will be allowed with RSL team members for all local TV affiliates.
Approximately fifteen minutes after the final whistle, RSL Head Coach will enter the Media Room on the first floor for his postgame press conference. Following the postgame interview session, the team locker rooms will be made accessible. All media members with a media/photo pass will have Locker Room access at the conclusion of the head coach’s press conference. Access to locker rooms is through the main elevator bank. NO still photography is permitted in the locker room.
Internet Access / Telephones
A secure, high-speed wireless network will be operational on both the fourth floor Press Level and the first floor Media Room at the stadium during RSL events in order to assist media members in their filing and informational needs. Network name & passwords will be posted throughout all media areas.
Postgame Quotes
RSL Communications will send representatives into each locker room after the game to collect quotes from players and coaches. A postgame quote sheet will be distributed following the game via e-mail.
Referee Pool Reporter
A pool reporter is assigned by the home team PR Director to represent the media with any necessary inquiries of the game officials. The MLS pool reporter must be identified and have his/her identity posted in the official's locker room 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Questions for the referees from the pool reporter must be delivered by Real Salt Lake PR to the referee’s locker room within 10 minutes of the final whistle. The referees will then have 15 minutes to give a written response to the pool reporter’s question, with the pool reporter then granted one verbal follow-up question, which the referee must answer immediately.
