Man of the Match: Defender Konrad Plewa made his presence known across the field on Saturday night. Plewa got in the way of multiple Roughnecks FC attempts at a cross, as well as blocking a freekick to protect the score line. On the offensive side, Plewa snuck into the far post to get a headed effort into the back of the net to take the lead in the first half. With seven clearances, two interceptions and a game-winning goal to his name on the night, Konrad Plewa earned himself Man of the Match honors.


Telling Stat: 3. Despite Tulsa Roughnecks FC maintaining 61.3% of possession throughout the night and taking eight shots towards goal, the Real Monarchs defense packed in to secure three points by keeping the Roughnecks with only three shots on goal.


What You Missed: In a contest that started off quickly, Real Monarchs mounted a comeback after going down early in the seventh minute to ultimately take the three points from ONEOK Field. Midfielder Masta Kacher found a quick equalizer while Plewa found a goal to take the lead. Forward Douglas Martinez tallied his sixth goal of the season, now leading the team alongside midfielder Maikel Chang in goals scored in 2019. Goalkeeper David Ochoa also made an appearance on the Starting XI for the first time since returning from the USMNT U-20 side for the U-20 World Cup in Poland.


So What: Real Monarchs SLC pushed its road record to 2-4-2 with its second consecutive road win and its third consecutive win overall. After Saturday’s action, the Monarchs now finds itself in the 12th spot in the Western Conference table with a record of 6-6-3 and 21 points. After two games away from home, Real Monarchs SLC now returns to Zions Bank Stadium to host New Mexico United on Saturday, July 6. Kickoff from Herriman is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. MT.
