COLORADO SPRINGS, Col.
(Saturday, September 26, 2020) ā€“
Real Monarchs
(3-9-2, 11 points) played to a 1-1 draw against regional rivals Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field on Saturday night.

Midfielder
Bode Davis
scored his second goal of the season for the Monarchs while Christian Volesky scored the lone goal for Colorado Springs.

The Monarchs struck first in a fast-paced first half. In the 21st minute, midfielder
Sam Brown
chested the corner kick down towards Davis who then buried the ball into the back of the net to take the early lead. The Monarchs looked to double the lead in the 31st minute with another shot by Davis, but a diving save kept the ball out of the net. In the 42nd minute,
James Moberg
was whistled for a foul that brought down midfielder Luke Ferreira inside the box and Switchbacks FC were awarded a penalty. Volesky converted the penalty with a right-footed shot and the sides went into the break level.

The second half ended in a flurry of chances for both sides as second half substitute
Ryan Sierakowski
was played in with a pass by
Dayonn Harris
in the 84th minute, but his touch took him wide and his cross back into play was cleared away by the defense. In the 86th minute, Volesky gathered a bouncing ball inside the box and fired it towards goal, but it was deflected out by Moberg and the match ended 1-1.
