QUOTE SHEET
Home 5-0 Tacoma Defiance
Zions Bank Stadium; Herriman, UT
July 12, 2019
 Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave
On the win:
“The team played really well. Players were enjoying the game. Players were doing the right things to win the game. They came out in the right mentality and the right attitude to get the result tonight and that’s what we did.”
On Douglas Martinez’s hat trick:
“We’re so happy for him. He should be proud of himself, the way he’s playing, the way he’s scoring. He works hard for the team. The team can see how hard he works. He can inject that energy to the team, too. Everyone is so happy for him.”
On Jake Black’s return:
“That’s great for him. After being out for a long time for an injury, he came out like nothing happened. He came out with that same energy, we came out with the same attitude that he was playing when he got injured. You can see when you work hard, when you do the right things, he scores. He scored because he did the right things to get back in the team. I’m happy for him because it’s the best come back from an injury.”
On continuing the win streak:
“We have a week to prepare. We need to watch clips about them, prepare to try and get good results and keep in the same rhythm that we found in the last five games.”
Forward Douglas Martinez
On first ever hattrick in Monarchs history:
“So many things going on in my head right now, but I think we should enjoy this night. It is a magnificent night, a great team and thank you to my teammates for helping me get the first hattrick.”
On moving forward:
“We work hard. We have been working hard every month, every week, and to be able to have a performance like this is very good. I hope to get another hattrick, but now I am very happy and grateful that I could help my team.
Midfielder Jack Blake
On his return to action:
“There’s nothing better. To contribute is the main thing. We’re all individuals but we’re more important as a team. The most important thing today was the 5-0 win, keeping the shutout, keeping all momentum going into two tough road games coming up.”
On the feeling in the locker room:
“Just positivity and confidence, really. Those are the two main things that we’ve been showing in training this week and leading up to this game. Even though Tacoma is bottom of the league, we knew it was going to be a tough game, they brought in some first team players, but once again we show what we can do as a team. I’m really proud of the boys.”
On scoring a goal in his return:
“I was thinking about that in bed last night. It was really nice, really special to come back. I’ve worked really hard. It’s been a long 11 weeks. To come in and get a goal and contribute to the team was great.”
On the mindset going into the next game:
“We’re going into it with confidence. We know El Paso is a good footballing team. They like to play the way we do. It should be a good game for the people to watch and to be involved in. I think we can definitely go there and get a result. It’s going to be a tough game.”
