HERRIMAN, Utah (Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026) – Wednesday, Real Salt Lake (11W-14L-6T, 39 points, 10th West / 18th Shield MLS) travels to face Austin FC (8W-13L-10T, 34 points, 14th West / 26th Shield) in the first of two road games this week, both matches critical to RSL’s 2026 postseason qualification. RSL arrives in Austin midweek with 10 points from its last five games, including back-to-back wins over Kansas City and St. Louis the last two Saturdays.

Saturday’s 3-0 win over St. Louis kicked off another three-game week for RSL, which will travel to San Jose for the penultimate 2026 MLS reg. season contest on Halloween against the Earthquakes following Wednesday’s Austin trip. With only three reg. season games remaining, RSL sits just two points behind the Nov. 7 opponent in its “Decision Day” home finale, the ninth-place LA Galaxy, for the final Western Wild Card berth, RSL one of several West teams separated by just eight points for the final three playoff seeds. RSL likely needs at least two wins in these final three games in order to extend the Club’s postseason qualification streak to a West-best six seasons, eight of the last nine year overall, and 16 of 19 campaigns dating back to its inaugural playoff foray in 2008.

RSL looks to build upon the momentum from the weekend’s dominant 3-0 home win over St. Louis CITY SC, one which saw rookie striker Sergi Solans score on either side of halftime to capture his third career brace, the first-year player now with 18 goals across all competitions and 14 in his debut MLS campaign. Solans needs just three goals in his final three games this MLS regular season to match the all-time Club-best scoring campaigns (17 goals by Arango, 2024; Saborio, 2012), as well as the MLS all-time rookie record of 17 goals (Cyle Larin, Orlando, 2015).

Former Poland Young Player of the Year Dominik Marczuk also scored an absolute golazo in Saturday’s win, RSL’s third in its last five games and its sixth clean sheet of 2026, all at home. Designated Player Morgan Guilavogui was also credited with two assists in Saturday’s victory, bringing his 2026 MLS reg. season totals to four goals and 10 assists in his inaugural MLS campaign, the sixth player in RSL’s history to accrue double-digit assists in a season.

Real Salt Lake Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni has now managed the Club in 219 matches across all competitions, registering 88 wins, 80 losses and 51 draws in MLS, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Open Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup and international friendly contests since late August, 2021. The former U.S. Men’s National Team World Cup standout (2002, 2006), MLS Cup Champion (2010) as a player, and former Colorado Rapids manager (2014-16) has averaged 1.60 points per game with RSL in his 219 matches at the helm. Only Cup-winning former manager Jason Kreis (2007-13) – now the Club’s President of Soccer – boasts more games, more wins and a higher PPG average than Mastroeni in RSL’s 22 seasons.

During the Mastroeni era, resilience, grit and determination have served as trademarks for RSL, with the Club suffering back-to-back losses on just 25 occasions in those 219 games. The October 17 road win at Kansas City marked the latest opportunity for the Claret-and-Cobalt to display its “xDAWG” mentality to earn the result, now winning 37 and drawing 19 times in “bounce-back” games following a loss in Mastroeni’s five-plus seasons in Utah. Drawing first blood has also proven to be critical for RSL during the five-plus seasons under Mastroeni, with RSL now 59-12-23 (W-L-T) when scoring first.
