Four RSL Academy Products Declare to Colleges

As the RSL Academy’s season came to a close, the seniors playing for the Academy and attending school at the Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman were being heavily recruited by top colleges around the country.

Four seniors from the RSL Academy U-19s made college commitments in the spring as forward Ben Ortiz and defenders Noah Beck and Delentz Pierre all committed to play at the University of Portland for the upcoming NCAA season while Easton Harryman committed to the University of San Francisco.

Ortiz featured in 21 matches, 17 of which were starts for the U-19s in 2019, finishing the season as the co-leader in goals scored with 10. During his time with the RSL Academy Ortiz featured in 69 matches for the U-17s and U-19s and scored 46 goals.

A sturdy centerback, Beck will join the University of Portland after a career at the RSL Academy that saw him play in 56 matches from 2017 to 2019 and score five goals from the backline and midfield for RSL.

Pierre has spent time with the Real Monarchs in 2019, playing in four matches for the USL Championship side and totaling 274 minutes played. For the RSL Academy, Pierre started and played in 15 matches on the back line while scoring one goal. Pierre capped his RSL Academy career by scoring a dramatic stoppage time equalizer against Atlanta United in the first match at the 2019 U.S.S.D.A. playoffs to earn RSL a point in group play. In total, Pierre played in 90 matches for the RSL Academy and scored 5 goals.

Harryman will join the team at the University of San Francisco having featured in 53 total matches in his RSL Academy career and although he didn’t register a goal during his time with RSL, was an integral part of the backline for the Academy from 2017 to 2019.
