QUOTE SHEET
Real Monarchs SLC 2-3 Oklahoma City Energy FC
Taft Stadium; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
August 11, 2018
Real Monarchs SLC
Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave
On the loss:

“It’s a lot of different emotions. We have up first half goals but the second half we were different class. The rotation in the midfield was good, and we moved the ball well. We came back and tied but unfortunately they came back and won it.”

On Blake’s goal:

“He’s an aggressive player. He brings something we didn’t have. Having him score that goal was great for us.”

Midfielder Jack Blake
On the loss:

“Anticipation was high to get the win, but we’ve seen this before. We go down early against San Antonio and we’re fighting. We got shaky. We came out in the second half, so I think it’s a shame we didn’t win it.”

On his first goal for the club:

“To get off the mark, hopefully many more to come. Sadly it doesn’t mean much when you loss but I’m looking forward to next week, and hopefully we can keep a clean sheet.”

Energy FC
Head Coach Steve Cooke

On the match:

“I think in the first half we played really, really well. Not only created two very good opportunities, but defended well which allowed us to create those chances. While Salt Lake had quite a bit of the ball in the first half, I never felt like we weren’t in control of the game.”

On taking down the Western Conference leaders:

“They’re top of the Western Conference and when two thirds of the season has gone by and you’re still at the top, there’s a reason for that. It’s because you’ve got quality players and a quality brand of soccer. They compete hard and win games, Credit to Salt Lake, they’ve done that for the last couple of years.”

Midfielder Monty Patterson
Thoughts of the setup for his goal:

“I thought Jose played great tonight. I was glad he saw me. I took a qucik touch and it set up nice for me to put it in the back of the net.

Midfielder Jose Barril
On the win:

“This one feels awesome. We got three points against Tulsa and the team carried that into tonight’s match. We have lots of confidence, which allows us to play our game of high pressure and high intensity.”
