HERRIMAN, Utah (Wednesday, May 9, 2018) – Real Monarchs SLC (6-1-1, 19 points 1 West) earned a statement come-from-behind 4-1 win against Swope Park Rangers on Wednesday night in front of 1,089 fans at Zions Bank Stadium. Swope Park started on the front foot in the match, getting the game’s first goal through the league’s leading scorer Kharlton Belmar after just nine minutes. Juan Ignacio Mare
tapped home his second in as many games. An own goal from Swope defender Brad Evans in the 60

SCORING SUMMARY:

SPR: Kharlton Belmar (Hadji Barry) 9th minute: A giveaway near midfield by the Monarchs handed the ball to Barry who played a through ball into Belmar’s run. Belmar did well to latch onto the pass and tuck home his league-leading sixth goal on the year.

SLC: Kalen Ryden (Sebastian Velasquez) 24th minute: A short corner taken by the Monarchs put Velasquez into the box with a chance to shoot. Velasquez’s shot looked destined for goal but Ryden’s quick flick header put the ball past the keeper for his first of the match.

SLC: Kalen Ryden (Justin Portillo) 44th minute: A corner kick from Justin Portillo found a wide-open Ryden at the back post who headed home inside the area for his sixth of the game.

SLC: Juan Mare (Aaron Herrera) 55th minute: A quick counter attack from the Monarchs just 10 minutes into the second half found Josh Head out wide with space to cross the ball. His whipped in cross clipped off the head of Aaron Herrera and found Mare waiting at the back post for the easy tap-in.

SLC: Brad Evans (Own Goal) 60th minute: A miscommunication between Swope defender Brad Evans and goalkeeper Zendejas led to Evans looking to head the ball back to his goalkeeper but found the back of his own net instead.
