Rimando Makes 23-Man U.S. National Team Roster for Sunday Friendly

Rimando U.S. Camp

Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando is among three keepers selected by Bruce Arena for the final 23-man U.S. National Team roster that will face Serbia on Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.  Kickoff for the USA’s first match of 2017 is set for 2 p.m. MT, and will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and UniMas.

Rimando has 21 caps in his U.S. National Team career, but has not appeared since a 2-0 win over Mexico on April 15, 2015.  He is entering his 11th season with Real Salt Lake and holds the MLS records for wins (183), shutouts (129), games played and starts (424).

Rimando is joined by San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham and New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles who will vie for the start on Sunday and five days later when the U.S. faces Jamaica in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Kickoff at Finley Stadium for that match is set for 5 p.m. MT, and the match will be broadcast live on FS1 and UniMas (simulcast on UDN).  Follow both matches on U.S. Soccer’s official Facebook, Twitter (@ussoccer) and Instagram (@ussoccer) accounts.

“I have been extremely pleased with the effort and progress we have seen throughout the January Camp,” Arena said in a release from U.S. Soccer. “The entire pool of players has performed well and has made our roster decisions very difficult. We are excited to take the next step and look forward to the game against Serbia in San Diego.”
