Save of the Week: Rimando's shutout-saving stop earns Save of the Week nomination

Nick Rimando was just moments away from his 123rd career MLS shutout when LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon was sprung in behind the RSL defense in the 89th minute to put the clean sheet in jeopardy.

However, The Wall of the Wasatch was up to the task and met Gordon head-on and swatted away his 15-yard shot before it was two-yards off his boot to ensure his eighth shutout of the season.  That last-minute stop is up for MLSsoccer.com’s Save of the Week as Rimando looks to add to his three prior Save of the Week titles, including one last week.

With the shutout, Rimando moved into a tie with D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid atop the MLS leaderboard with a 1.00 goals against average.  His eight clean sheets rank eighth in the league despite Rimando playing just 21 games due to frequent absences with the U.S. National Team.
