The RSL Academy U-15s picked up a critical 1-0 win over the Inter Miami affiliate after Diego Lopez converted a penalty kick opportunity in the 56th minute.

The defensive-minded RSL Academy packed in deep to hold off an early offensive from Inter Miami, testing RSL goalkeeper Ramses Martinez into few big saves early on. As the RSL side tried to bring itself out of its own half, its attack continued to get lost in transition or shut down by the Miami midfield, leaving the RSL Academy wanting of a threatening attack. The compact defensive however put in the work to stave up of the Miami attack and go into the break with a goal to show for either side.

The RSL Academy offense sparked to life quickly after the opening whistle as early on, Marcus Vazquez took a quick shot that looked for the far post but was easily saved by the Miami goalkeeper. RSL kept possession using creativity to attack and pressure the Miami defense, resulting in a penalty kick opportunity in the 56th minute that Lopez cleanly converted, providing RSL with the go ahead goal it would use to earn three points.
