SANDY, Utah (Friday, August 3, 2018) – Real Salt Lake (9-9-4, 31 pts., 6th West) returns home Saturday against Chicago (6-12-5, 23 pts., 8th East), with an 8:00 p.m. MT kickoff against the visiting Fire in a game critical to the club’s postseason aspirations. Saturday’s game represents the club’s first-ever “WHITEOUT” match, as presenting partner LifeVantage provides 20,000 jersey-mock t-shirts and ThunderSticks to fans in attendance, with RSL wearing a color other than its traditional home Claret for just the fifth time in its 14-year history. Overall, excluding these five contests, RSL is 140-52-70 when wearing “red” at home across all competitions.Head Coach Mike Petke’s team – with a 10-game unbeaten run at home and an overall 2018 mark of 8-1-2 in Sandy (outscoring opponents 22-9), losing only the season opener on March 10 to LAFC –host Chicago in the first of back-to-back home matches against Eastern Conference opponents, as Montreal arrives next Saturday, August 11.
Petke returns to the touchline following a two-game suspension – served in recent draws against Colorado and San Jose – with RSL boasting a 17-5-5 home mark in MLS action during the Petke era.
