Game at a Glance: Dami Nets His 11th

Real Salt Lake 1 vs. Portland Timbers 6

September 25, 2021; Providence Park, Portland, Oregon

Real Salt Lake (10-10-6, 36 points); Portland Timbers (12-10-4, 40 points)

Man of the Match: Midfielder Damir Kreilach scored the lone goal for Real Salt Lake, netting his 11th of the season - one away from tying his single-season high set in 2018. In his first season with the Club, Kreilach scored 12 goals in 33 matches, this season he has scored 11 in just 25 games played.

Telling Stat: The two sides each recorded nine shots on target, but great stops from Steve Clark prevented Real Salt Lake from capitalizing and getting on the board. Clark made eight saves on the night, including blocking several point-blank shots to keep the momentum in Portland’s favor.

What You Missed: Real Salt Lake fell 6-1 at Providence Park to Portland Timbers, marking just the second time this season the team has lost by more than one goal. Despite the loss the team remains above the playoff line in seventh position with eight remaining matches, four of which are at home.

What’s Next: Real Salt Lake returns to Rio Tinto Stadium for a midweek match against LA Galaxy on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. MT. The match will mark the club’s first-annual Hispanic Heritage Night, celebrating the contributions of the Hispanic community.
