Man of the Match: Forward Sergio Cordova continued his hot streak, netting his Club-leading seventh goal of the season. Cordova has now scored in each of the last three matches, making him the only RSL player to score in three-consecutive matches this season. The last RSL player to find the back of the net three games in a row was late last season when former captain Albert Rusnak scored against FC Dallas, San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers back-to-back-to-back. Additionally, the Venezuelan led the Claret-and-Cobalt in shots for the second straight match with three.
Telling Stat: With tonight’s draw, Real Salt Lake and Vancouver Whitecaps ended its 18-game streak without a draw. The last time the two clubs ended in a draw was on April 26, 2014, playing to a 2-2 draw behind goals from Joao Plata and Alvaro Saborio. The 18-game streak was the second longest in MLS history just behind FC Dallas who played 19 straight matches without a draw from 2001-2009 with New England Revolution and with LA Galaxy from 2003-2008.
What You Missed: Real Salt Lake and Vancouver Whitecaps played to the Clubs’ first draw since 2014, ending the match with a score of 1-1. Forward Sergio Cordova continued his scoring clinic, netting a goal for the third consecutive game. Midfielder Jasper Löffelsend earned his second assist of the season while goalkeeper Zac MacMath put on another commanding performance with three saves.
What’s Next: Real Salt Lake will travel to the Lone Star State for the second time this season to take on Western Conference foes FC Dallas on Saturday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. MT.
