Game at a Glance: Albert Rusnak Completes Them All

Real Salt Lake 0 vs. LA Galaxy 1

August 4, 2021; Dignity Health Sports Park

Real Salt Lake (5-6-6, 21 points); LA Galaxy (10-6-1, 31 points)

Man of the Match: Midfielder Albert Rusnak anchored the team’s offense with two key passes and two shots, including one of Real Salt Lake’s best chances at goal. Up until the final minute of stoppage time Rusnak had achieved a 100 percent passing rate, but in the final moments of the match he was picked off, finishing with a percentage of 97.7, the highest of any player on the pitch.

Telling Stat: In his first second-consecutive start since early 2020, goalkeeper Zac Mac MacMath recorded a Real Salt Lake career-high seven saves to keep an offensively formidable LA Galaxy from finding the back of the net. This season the Galaxy have scored the second-most goals in the Western Conference

What You Missed: LA Galaxy took all three points with a goal from Mexican international Efrain Alverez. The forward appeared to be in an offside position prior to receiving the pass from midfielder Sacha Kljestan, but after review from VAR the goal was awarded. The goal would prove to be the only of the match and the eventual game-winner.

What’s Next: Real Salt Lake finishes its three-game road series against Portland Timbers at Providence Park, capping off six games in under three weeks. Defender Justen Glad who was absent due to a red card against Houston Dynamo will be available against Portland.
