Head Coach Jamison Olave
On the first win of the season:

“I feel better. Winning at home the feeling is better for everyone. The first team players came down and they did a really good job. Milan [Iloski] had some great goals, Maikel Chang, Douglas [Martinez], Putna, everyone made a great effort. They are going to help the young players on the Monarchs that are coming from the Academy to develop.”

On the clean sheet:

“We did pretty good. As a defender you are always trying to keep the goals at zero. I’m proud of what the guys did today, especially in the second half, we played against the wind and it was extremely difficult, but we still did a really good job defensively.”

On the next game in Texas:

“Right now we need to rest. The intensity and the mentality to win is something we need to bring on the road. It’s going to be a short turnaround. We don’t have any more time to think about what happened in this game. Tomorrow we are traveling and we have to prepare for RGV.”

Midfielder Sam Brown
On the first win

“I think it was about maintaining good team spirit, keeping our heads down and working hard. I don’t think any of these games have been easy. We had to work extra hard tonight, they were a good team. I think the conditions played a huge factor as well. Now we need to maintain momentum and keep moving forward.”

On the first clean sheet of the season:

“Tonight was a testament to the work that the defense has done this year. I’m happy that after a tough couple of games that we were able to keep it together tonight. We had Holt and Punta back there and they were both massive, credit to those guys for helping us.”

On the next game:

“We’ve seen RGV and we know they are a good squad. In the next couple of days we have to make sure we are taking care of our bodies and recovering properly. The guys who didn’t get to play tonight may get a run on Saturday. We know that they are going to help us and that the guys who played tonight are going to work hard too.”

Forward Milan Iloski
On scoring his first professional goal:

“It’s great, especially getting the win afterwards. It’s a special feeling that I’ll always remember and it was a good goal, thankfully. It was a great experience and hopefully it leads to many more this season.”

On his second goal:

“I saw [Maikel Chang] swinging it and I saw the field changing. I knew when he was cutting on his left foot that the weak side midfielder would slide over and cover, so I knew that there would be a gap for me to run into. Chang has a great eye for a pass and he slipped me in. The goalie came out and I knew I had to be clever with the finish, so I just dinked it over his arm. It was a good goal and I’m happy to help the team win.”

On he and his brothers finding success in the USL:

“Yeah it was a great night. Congrats to him [Brian Iloski], I'm very happy for him. It’s funny because he scored against [Sacramento] last weekend. It’s been a good week for us, but now our other brother Eric [Iloski] who is playing for Las Vegas has to show up and do something. The week is not over for us yet, so we will see what happens.”
