HERRIMAN, Utah – (Sunday, October 20, 2019) – After finishing the 2019 USL Championship regular season in 4th place in a competitive Western Conference, Real Monarchs SLC is set to host Orange County SC in the Quarterfinal round of the 2019 Championship Playoffs on Saturday, October 26 at 1:00p MT. Its appearance in the Championship Playoffs is the club’s third appearance in the postseason in as many seasons.

Entering the postseason, FW Douglas Martínez led the Real Monarchs attack in 2019, scoring 16 goals and registering six assists in 22 appearances. The Honduran international made Monarchs history by scoring the club’s first hattrick in a 5-0 rout against Tacoma Defiance. MF Maikel Chang followed Martínez in both goals and assists with 13 and five respectively in his 34 appearances, playing 3,407 minutes in the season. MF Jack Blake’s veteran presence earned eight goals and an assist while FW Luis Arriaga tallied four assists – the third best on the team - in his rookie year.
GK David Ochoa completed his first professional season with a record of 7-4-4 in his 15 appearances, tallying four shutouts and a 1.36 goals against average in that time. GK Andrew Putna also appeared for the Monarchs in 2019 with 13 appearances with a 6-3-4 record and a 1.54 goals against average and matching Ochoa’s four clean sheets. DF Noah Powder led the defense in appearances with 30 matches played and 2,539 minutes played.
Real Monarchs hold a 4-6-1 record overall in the regular season against Orange County SC. The Utah club holds an advantage over the visitors on Utah soil with an all-time record of 3-2-1 (10 points) when playing at home. The last meeting at Zions Bank Stadium was in early October in a match that saw the Monarchs clinch its playoff berth in a 2-0 win behind an own goal and the insurance strike from Chang.
