Real Monarchs vs Sacramento Republic FC Quote Sheet

Real Monarchs 3-0 Sacramento Republic FC

Zions Bank Stadium; Herriman, UT

October 19, 2019

Interim Head Coach Jamison Olave

On the performance:

“The guys played really well. In the first half, you could see the guys were a little tired, because we played a lot of games in a short period of time. The second half was much better. We scored a couple goals to ensure the victory.”

On the defense and clean sheet:

“We were expecting them to come at us and press high. We played at midweek and they didn’t so we were just trying to survive the first half. Then we tried to hit them on the counter attack, and I think we did that really well in the second half. That was the mentality heading into the game.”

On the momentum:

“I think that the momentum is there. The motivation that the guys have had in the last couple of games, when we went to Phoenix and Reno, then here, was great. The last few games have been against really good teams and the guys have played well. We are looking forward to the home playoff game and the motivation has to be there.”

Goalkeeper David Ochoa

On the win:

“We feel great, especially into the playoffs now. We’re feeling confident and we are going to get a good result next week at home.”

On the home playoff game:

“We’re even more confident. We were feeling confident before but being at home in front of our fans on our pitch makes us feel really good.”

On keeping the momentum:

“When we’re confident we’re at our best, so next week we’re going to head in confident and hopefully get the result.”

Defender Kalen Ryden

On the performance:

“I’m feeling good. I’m more happy about the three points. I think it was important to the team to get the 3 points tonight and a good result for momentum heading into next week. Today clinched the home playoff game, which was important as well.”

On the home playoff game:

“It’s great for everybody. It gives the fans another chance to come out and enjoy our footy. We’re excited to be back home in front of our fans. We love playing in this stadium and we love playing at home.”

On the shutout:

“We’re resilient. We’re all big guys back there, we’re physical and we’re strong. We do whatever it takes to make sure that ball stays out of the back of the net. We were a bit sloppy in the first half. I think we were a bit fortunate to come out with a shutout, but I’m pleased with how everyone performed.”
