HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, Oct. 23, 2026) – Saturday, Real Salt Lake (10W-14L-6T, 36 points, 10th West / 17th Shield MLS) returns home for a 7:30p MT kickoff against Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Champions St. Louis CITY SC (14W-7L-9T, 51 points, 2nd West / 5th Shield) at America First Field. With only four reg. season games remaining, RSL sits just three points behind ninth-place Colorado for the final Wild Card berth in the West, one of seven teams separated by just eight points for the final three playoff seeds. RSL likely needs at least three wins in those final four games in order to extend the Club’s postseason qualification streak to a West-best six seasons.
RSL looks to build upon the momentum from last week’s 3-1 road win at Kansas City, one which saw Designated Player Morgan Guilavogui score his first-ever MLS / RSL brace, his two goals sandwiched around yet another for rookie striker Sergi Solans, who now has 16 goals across all competitions and 12 in his debut MLS campaign. Staunch midfielder Noel Caliskan – who has started 53 of RSL’s last 58 games – provided assists on both Guilavogui goals, the French-born attacker doubling his season goal total and finding the back of the net for the first time since Aug. 19 against Dallas.
Saturday’s RSL v St. Louis contest on Apple TV features Mike Watts and Marcelo Balboa on the primary English-language call, while Oscar Salazar will provide the Spanish-language analysis. Simultaneously, the KSL Radio team of David James and Jay Nolly return to the mic, with Nelson Moran – now in his 22nd RSL season as RSL’s Spanish radio voice – conducting the Spanish call with Willy Barrueta and Isidro López on KBMG Latino 106.3 FM.

Saturday kicks off another three-game week for RSL, which will travel to Austin FC next Wednesday and onto San Jose for the penultimate 2026 MLS reg. season contest on Halloween against the Earthquakes. With a likely critical “Decision Day” tilt on Sat., Nov. 7 against visiting LA Galaxy, RSL remains fixated on the opportunity to extend its playoff run to six consecutive seasons, eight of the last nine year and for 16 of the last 19 campaigns, dating back to RSL’s playoff debut in 2008.
Real Salt Lake Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni has now managed the Club in 218 matches across all competitions, registering 87 wins, 80 losses and 51 draws in MLS, Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, Leagues Cup, Open Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup and international friendly contests since late August, 2021. The former U.S. Men’s National Team World Cup standout (2002, 2006), MLS Cup Champion (2010) as a player, and former Colorado Rapids manager (2014-16) has averaged 1.60 points per game with RSL in his 202 matches at the helm. Only Cup-winning former manager Jason Kreis (2007-13) – now the Club’s President of Soccer – boasts more games, more wins and a higher PPG average than Mastroeni in RSL’s 22 seasons.
During the Mastroeni era, resilience, grit and determination have served as trademarks for RSL, with the Club suffering back-to-back losses on just 25 occasions in those 218 games. Saturday’s win at Kansas City marked the latest opportunity for the Claret-and-Cobalt to display its “xDAWG” mentality to earn the result, now winning 37 and drawing 19 times in “bounce-back” games following a loss in Mastroeni’s five-plus seasons in Utah.
Drawing first blood has also proven to be critical for RSL during the five-plus seasons under Mastroeni, with RSL now 58-12-23 (W-L-T) when scoring first. Following Saturday’s match, RSL continues its final three-game week of the season, with road games at Austin on Wednesday and a Halloween matinee Saturday at San Jose, both matches critical to RSL’s 2026 postseason hopes.
