Real Monarchs vs Austin Bold FC Quote Sheet

QUOTE SHEET
Real Monarchs 2-2 Austin Bold FC
Zions Bank Stadium; Herriman, UT
October 16, 2019
Head Coach Jamison Olave
On Austin’s approach:
“We knew we were playing against an experienced team. They have very experience players on that team. They came and tried to sit, to slow down the game, which is what they did. We fell asleep on two plays and they scored. We had the lead twice, but we didn’t take care of it, and that’s why go out with 1 point.”
On the learning experience:
“Mistakes. We couldn’t take care of the lead. Everyone is going to learn from this game. They have experienced players, and we have a lot of young players. The same players that stepped on the field against Phoenix and did a really good job, but today it wasn’t the case. We played really well, we created chances, but we didn’t finish them. We finished two, but now we need to be ready for Sacramento. It’s going to be a quick turnaround so we have to be ready.”
On the quick turnaround:
“We don’t have that much time to think about it. I said to the players after the game, think about the game tonight, but tomorrow come to work.”
On the importance of a home game:
“It is going to be very important. Both teams have something to play for. We want to host and they want to host. They lost the last one, so we speculate that it will be an interesting game. We need to come switched on to get the results we want.”
Forward Kyle Coffee
On the goal:
“It’s always feels good to score a goal. Obviously, it’s better when you win. That kind of dampens the situation a little bit, but it’s always good to get a goal.”
On moving forward:
“It feels good, but you wish you could have gotten both, because it changes the game. Hopefully, I don’t miss those in the future.”
On Austin’s approach:
“They’re just a very physical team. They’re all very experienced as well. We have a younger team than them, so they knew how to wind down the clock, play the games, and kill the tempo on certain things.”
On the potential to host a playoff game:
“It’s a massively important game. To host a game compared to going on the road so late in the year is huge. We really need those points, so that’s a must win for us.”
Forward Julian Vasquez
On the goal:
“That was really good for us. We came out really strong, and it was nice for me to get on the scoresheet for the Monarchs.”
On the positive takeaways:
“I think we played well, but obviously we could have played better. I think it was learning experience. It’s good to have this happen right before the playoffs, so we can learn from this.”
On takeaways:
“Staying disciplined for the full 90 and not switching off in key moments.”
On the importance of the game Saturday:
“That’s the goal, to get a home playoff game. It’s nice to be here, so we’ll try our best and try to get another one.”
On playing in front of his family:
“It’s always nice having my family come out here with the love and support that they have for me.”
