Utah Royals FC Represent Club on the International Stage

This past week several members of Utah Royals FC represented the club on the international level, playing for their respective countries across the globe.
The American trio of DF Kelley O’Hara, FW Christen Press and DF Becky Sauerbrunn wrapped up the Victory Tour, celebrating the United States win at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The team faced South Korea twice during the past week with the first match kicking off in Charlotte, North Carolina and the second in Chicago, Illinois. Sauerbrunn started both matches and Press recorded 45 minutes as a substitute in the first match and was a starter in Chicago. O’Hara did not see playing time due to injury, but was along for the celebrations.
Across the Atlantic Ocean in Europe, MF Gunny Jónsdóttir joined up with Iceland to take part in two matches. The first served as a friendly against France and the second, against Latvia, was part of the team’s continued efforts to qualify for the 2020 UEFA Women’s Championship. Jónsdóttir appeared in both matches as a starting midfielder.
Finally, MF Desiree Scott journeyed to Japan to partake in a friendly with her home country of Canada. Scott started and played all 90 minutes in the 4-0 loss to Japan.
All five internationals have rejoined Utah in preparations for the team’s final match of the season on Saturday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. MT against the Houston Dash. Tickets to the match can be purchased at UtahRoyalsFC.com or by calling 844.REAL.TIX.
