Club Kicks-Off Second-Annual Pride Month

With the ever growing and expanding nature of soccer at Rio Tinto Stadium and Zions Bank Real Academy, the Real Salt Lake organization celebrates and welcomes everyone.  Soccer is for all.

With this in mind, the club will celebrate its second-annual “Pride Month”, beginning June 1. The club will have a special “Pride Weekend”, with Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC playing on back-to-back days on June 28-29. The Real Monarchs will play its Pride Match on Saturday, June 8 against Rio Grande Valley FC Toros.

The Utah Royals FC will host Reign FC on Friday, June 28. RSL will face Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, June 29.

This marquee weekend will honor and celebrate “Soccer for All” through a promotion that offers fans the opportunity to enjoy both matches for just $25. Ticket prices include a uniquely designed t-shirt that recognizes everyone and represents the Club’s overarching spirit of inclusion. Fans can purchase tickets to the weekend’s matches by visiting and navigating to the 'Special Offers' tab and using code: PRIDE at checkout.

In addition, throughout the month of June, the Club, in conjunction with the Real Salt Lake Foundation, will be supporting its players through the Playing for Pride project, matching each pledge made by the athletes to be donated to Athlete Ally, a nonprofit LGBTQ athletic advocacy group. Last year, the RSL foundation donated $3,344 on behalf of those players who took part in Playing for Pride.

Currently, the players participating in Playing for Pride are as follows:

  • Corey Baird (RSL)
  • Abby Smith (URFC)
  • Alexandra Kimball (URFC)
  • Becca Moros (URFC)
  • Diana Matheson (URFC)
  • Gaby Vincent (URFC)
  • Gunny Jonsdottir (URFC)
  • Katie Stengel (URFC)
  • Mandy Laddish (URFC)
  • Vero Boquete (URFC)

Join Real Salt Lake in this celebration of equality and diversity during the month of June and throughout the rest of the season at Rio Tinto Stadium, where everyone is welcome.

Today, tomorrow and every day we celebrate and rejoice each and every person, from those in the stands, to the players in and out of the locker rooms of Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals FC, Real Monarchs SLC and our youth training centers and Academy facilities.
