Real Monarchs Game at a Glance: RM 0-2 COS

Real Monarchs SLC 0 vs Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 2
September 29, 2018; Herriman, Utah; Zions Bank Stadium
Real Monarchs SLC (17-12-3, 54 points); Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (11-16-5, 38 points)

Man of the Match: Midfielder Masta Kacher helped the Monarchs command the midfield, while putting forth effort on both ends of the ball. Kacher started off his night with an impressive shot that seemed destined for an opening goal as it dipped toward the far post but was denied by the Switchbacks FC ‘keeper. Kacher recorded a total of five shots, while attempting crosses to create opportunities for his team, as well as notching a few tackles defensively for the Monarchs

Telling Stat: 17. Real Monarchs put on 17 shots towards goal as the team pushed for the elusive net. It was not to be for the Monarchs however, as most of the shots were either saved by Moise Pouaty in the Switchbacks FC goal or rebounded off the crossbar. Amidst a rough run of form, the stat proves the Monarchs are fighting hard to swing momentum back in its favor.

What You Missed: Real Monarchs played its second-to-last home game of the 2018 Regular Season, a match that saw a frustrating result extend the Monarchs winless run to a total of seven games. The Monarchs fed off an energetic crowd though and put Switchbacks FC to the test with a passing game that created opportunities for a chance at goal. Midfielder Sebastian Velazquez made his return back to the starting XI, playing 77 minutes in the loss.

So What: The Monarchs move to 12-2-2 all-time record at Zions Bank Stadium. The loss to Colorado Springs means the Monarchs are still searching for the win to break the winless run as well as to find some footing before making a run at the USL Cup in the playoffs. The Monarchs will wrap up the home-slate of the 2018 regular season against OKC Energy FC on Wednesday, October 3rd, where kick off from Zions Bank Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. MT.
