Man of the Match: Monarchs forward Chandler Hoffman continued his hot streak, picking up an assist and two goals on the night. Hoffman was able to find and take advantage of gaps within the Los Dos defense to earn his 10th and 11th goals this season for his second consecutive brace. With an 82% passing accuracy and a 50% conversion rate, Hoffman earned himself the Man of the Match.


Telling Stat: 68.4%: Real Monarchs held possession of the ball for 68.4% of the match, handily controlling the match against LA Galaxy II, a number that largely attributed to the final score line.


What You Missed: Forward Jamal Charles made his debut for the Monarchs as a late substitution in the 82nd minute of the match after being acquired on loan from C.D.S. Vida in early August for the remainder of the 2018 season. Chandler Hoffman extended his team-leading goal count up to 11 after notching another two goals. Goalkeeper Adam Grinwis earned his first clean sheet for the club, protecting the net and holding off Los Dos in the second half for the club’s seventh shut out at Zions Bank Stadium.


So What: Real Monarchs put distance in from second place Orange County SC on the Western Conference table with the three points picked up over LA Galaxy II. With only nine games left for the Monarchs in its quest to remain Regular-Season Champions, the Monarchs will look to cap the season with strong performances both at home and on the road. Four of its final nine regular-season matches are to be played at the home fortress of Zions Bank Stadium. The Monarchs will continue its final stretch on the road against in a midweek match with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Wednesday, August 29. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. MT and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
