Rachel Corsie Named to NWSL Team of the Month
Not only did DF Rachel Corsie win ‘Save of the Week’ for two consecutive weeks in July, but she has now been selected for the NWSL’s ‘Team of the Month’ as well. The Scottish star has played almost every minute this year, registering one assist against the Pride, and continues to lead the league in passing. Corsie’s stellar performances against Orlando and the North Carolina Courage at home have qualified Corsie to this elite group of women.

Breaking It Down

  • Best known as the captain of the Scottish Women’s National Team, Corsie just celebrated her 100th cap during the UEFA Cup Qualifiers last June. Following her international stint, Corsie has developed into a solid defensive wall – taking down some of the league’s top forwards in one versus one duels and clearances. Both of her ‘Save of the Week’ victories demonstrated immense courage and grit, diving head-first into the path of an oncoming shot.

Head coach Laura Harvey on Corsie: “Corsie is a tried-and-tested Scottish international player...She played for me in Seattle...and was looking for an opportunity outside of Seattle, and Utah happened to give her a call. We are lucky to have her ... typical British, no-nonsense defender who bullies opposing forwards and loves to tackle.”
