SANDY, UT (Friday, July 13, 2018) – Utah Royals FC (5-5-6, 21 pts., NWSL 6th place) will return to Rio Tinto Stadium for Saturday’s match against the Orlando Pride at 5:00 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcasted on ESPNW as the “Game of the Week,” and will welcome USWNT stars such as FW Alex Morgan, GK Ashlyn Harris, and Brazilian super-star Marta. The game will also be aired on local radio station 100.7 FM with Greg Wrubell and Carla Haslam on the call.
This will be the final of three games against the Pride, both resulting in draws. URFC played their first inaugural match in late March at Orlando City Stadium with MF Gunny Jonsdottir scoring the club’s first ever goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but a dubious hand ball in the box allowed Marta to convert on a first-half penalty kick – resulting in a 1-1 draw. The two teams then met once more in May at Rio Tinto Stadium, but neither side was able to find the back of the net.
Utah now finds themselves four points away from play-off position, with one game in hand. The next two home matches will be crucial for the team if they want to be competitive in the tournament chase.
