SANDY, UT (Friday, June 22, 2018) – Utah Royals FC (4-2-5, 17 pts., NWSL 4th place) travel to Toyota Park for the first time in club history to take on the Chicago Red Stars tomorrow, Saturday, June 23, for a 6:00 p.m. MT kickoff. The teams have met once before this season at Rio Tinto Stadium for the URFC inaugural home opener, resulting in a 1-0 loss for the home side.

URFC heads to the “Windy City” following a massive 1-0 win last week against the N.C. Courage – previously unbeaten and still the overall NWSL leader. Substitute FW Brittany Ratcliffe bagged the stoppage-time game-winner at WakeMed, and also took home the NWSL “Goal of the Week” honors for her 94th-minute blast, determined via fan vote. The Utah side now finds themselves in the fourth and final playoff spot entering the midway point of the season, with a game in hand amongst a tightly-packed group that includes Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Houston and Orlando.

Saturday’s trip to Chicago comes just days after Utah and Chicago joined Houston in a three-team “mega-trade” that resulted in the Royals FC acquisition of USWNT star FW Christen Press and NWSL standout DF Samantha Johnson. The two league veterans arrived in Salt Lake this week, and are expected to be available at Rio Tinto Stadium for Utah’s home match next Wednesday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m. MT against Seattle Reign FC, Head Coach Laura Harvey’s former team.
