REAL MONARCHS SLC RETURN TO ACTION SATURDAY AT SAINT LOUIS FC
Monarchs Make First-Ever Visit to Saint Louis FC and Toyota Stadium;
Last Meeting Between the Sides Came in 2016 in the Form of a Monarchs Victory;
Club Caps “Midwest Mayhem Tour” Looking to Improve Upon 1-0-1 Record in “Bounce-Back” Matches in 2018
HERRIMAN, Utah (FRIDAY, June 15, 2018) – Real Monarchs SLC (10-3-1, 31 points, 1 West) return to action on Saturday, June 16 to face Saint Louis FC at 6:30 pm. MT from Toyota Stadium. The match will be the second match in four days for the Monarchs after facing Swope Park Rangers in a hard fought 3-2 loss on Wednesday evening in Kansas City.
The Monarchs and Saint Louis FC have only done battle on one occasion in 2016, a match the Monarchs claimed a 1-0 victory. Playing in the Eastern Conference before returning to the West in 2018, Saint Louis FC has not been a common opponent for the Monarchs but will now face each other twice this season.
The Utah club are coming off a heated match against Swope Park Rangers on Wednesday that saw FW Chandler Hoffman score his fourth and fifth goals of the season in a 3-2 loss. Hoffman now leads the team’s “Golden Boot” race with five goals in 13 appearances in his sophomore season with the Monarchs. Despite falling at Children’s Mercy Park, the Monarchs retained its lead atop the United Soccer League standings with a game in hand over its next closest competitors.

Real Monarchs moved away from the home of Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC at Rio Tinto Stadium and christen the new, 5,000 seat Zions Bank Stadium on the campus of the $78 million Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, Utah. The state-of-the-art venue will boast a full-service press box and broadcasting booth as well as concessions on either side of the stadium. Officially opening April 2018, the Monarchs will host 17 regular-season matches at Zions Bank Stadium in the first year at the league’s newest venue starting with an April 30 match against Las Vegas Lights FC for the first ever “Saints-and-Sinners/I-15” Rivalry.
The Herriman facility provides adjacencies for an on-site charter school in conjunction with the Jordan School District, which opened last August, focusing on STEM disciplines (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) for nearly 300 boys and girls, kicking off a new era for both sports and education in Utah.
Last December in North Logan, Utah, RSL Owner Dell Loy Hansen christened the opening of the first of a half-dozen regional training centers across Utah and Arizona to be built in the next 2-3 years. Each $5 million RTC houses a classroom, as well as an indoor and outdoor field, dedicated to fulfilling a curriculum consistent with the club's vision and mission for youth soccer training and education, and the continued development of both recreational and competitive pre-Academy (ages 7-14) initiatives across Utah and Arizona.
