Denver Native Leaves Real Monarchs SLC in Sophomore Season after Helping the Club to 2017 United Soccer League Regular-Season Championship Shield

HERRIMAN, Utah (Monday, June 4, 2018) Real Monarchs SLC and midfielder Karsten Hanlin have mutually agreed to part ways Real Monarchs SLC General Manager Dan Egner announced today.


“We’d like to thank Karsten for his contributions over the past two years,” Egner said. “He was an integral part of our success in 2017 who performed every time he was called upon. He is a consummate professional, and we wish him all the best in his next step as a professional.”


Hanlin, 24, spent his first professional season with the Monarchs in 2017, helping the club to secure the 2017 USL Regular-Season title by scoring two goals in 549 minutes played. Hanlin featured on two occasions for the Monarchs in 2018, totaling 87 minutes while making a single start.


Real Monarchs SLC currently sit atop the USL standings having won nine of its first 12 matches to begin 2018. The Monarchs host Rio Grande Valley Toros on Monday, June 4 at Zions Bank Stadium.
