RSL (2-2-1, 4 points); NYC (4-0-1, 13 points)

Player to Watch – 2016 MLS MVP David Villa is back in training with NYCFC after missing the last three matches due to injury.  He has one goal in two matches thus far, giving him 64 goals in 96 MLS matches since he came to the league in 2015.  Despite playing just two matches, he leads the team with 13 shots.

Matchup to Watch – NYCFC’s in-form attack vs. RSL’s hard-nosed defense.  After Real Salt Lake settled into its defensive responsibilities when Adam Henley and David Horst came on as injury substitutes over the weekend in a 2-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the back four was solid in its reduction of Vancouver’s attacking chances.  On New York City’s side, Villa returns to an offense that has scored two goals in each of the first five matches this season.

All-Time Record – RSL is 3-0-0 in the three matchups against NYCFC since the club joined the league in 2015.  In the lone visit to Yankee Stadium in 2016, RSL scored three goals in 15 minutes in the second half to secure a 3-2 win.

Last 5 Overall – NYCFC is one of two unbeaten teams remaining in MLS at 4-0-1.  That includes a pair of home wins over the LA Galaxy and Orlando City on consecutive weekends in mid-March.
