Goal of the Week: Sandoval's first of the year earns nomination

Devon Sandoval’s first goal of the season was a beauty and on Monday he was included in the finalists for MLSsoccer.com’s Goal of the Week.

Sandoval scored his first goal of the season and the fourth of his MLS career in Saturday’s 4-1 loss to the Montreal Impact.  It was a stunning goal that came after some good play against the sideline that freed up Luis Gil for a run to the edge of the box.  The ball rolled to Sandoval who put an arcing shot past Evan Bush and inside the far post in the 47th minute.

“Luke, Luis and I had a nice little passing sequence on the side.  Luis laid it off to me and that’s just what was given to me,” Sandoval said.  “It came to my left foot, I just hit it one-time, I was going for the back post and it worked.”
