After securing the rights of former North American second-division standouts Yordany Alvarez and Paulo Jr. over the offseason, Real Salt Lake could very easily go back to the well to secure the services of left back Lance Laing, who joined the squad for its Tucson-based spring training camp in mid-February. The 24-year-old Laing enjoyed a stellar debut season with Paulo Jr.’s former side, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, earning NASL Best XI honors in 2011 after beginning his professional career with four seasons in his native Jamaica.

Professional Career: Joined the NASL’s Ft. Lauderdale Strikers in 2011, the former squad of current RSL forward Paulo Jr. (formerly Miami FC) … Notched a goal and an assist in 22 contests for the Strikers, his work at the back leading to a spot in the NASL Best XI at season’s end … Joined Fort Lauderdale from Jamaican side Village United in his home area of Trelawny, where he played the 2010-11 Jamaican National Premier League … Began professional career with three seasons (2007-2010) for Jamaican powers Harbour View and was part of the squad that won both the 2007 and 2010 JNPL titles … Participated in the  2007 CFU Club Championship, 2008 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup and  2008-09 CONCACAF Champions League as a member of Harbour View.

International Career: Represented Jamaica twice at the senior international in 2008, debuting in a friendly against El Salvador on 7/26/08 … Was a regular member of the Reggae Boyz’ Under-17 squad between 2004-05.
