MidfielderWhen midfielder Collen Warner was announced as part of a 2010 SuperDraft day deal between Real Salt Lake and Los Angeles, his wasn’t the name everyone was talking about – that honor belonged to Clint Mathis. But Warner certainly changed the focus during his rookie campaign, which was dotted with performances that sparked comparisons to another RSL midfielder with a similar uncanny knack for keeping possession and willingness to make the difficult pass, veteran Andy Williams. Warner’s string-pulling performance in RSL’s 3-1 Group A-clinching win over Cruz Azul last October was the embodiment of what the Utah side’s Technical Staff saw when it traded up for the University of Portland, and the Claret-and-Cobalt faithful should expect even more of those efforts during a crowded 2011 calendar as he looks to climb up the depth chart in the League’s deepest and most talented corps of midfielders.
