Professional Career

2021 Real Salt Lake: Joined RSL in the summer of 2021, Wood featured in 17 matches and made 7 starts, scoring his first goal for the Club on July 24 against Colorado, then scored his second for the Club against Austin FC on August 14. Wood also scored the winning goal in the Western Conference Semifinal in stoppage time at Sporting Kansas City on November 28. He also provided one assist in 618 minutes during the regular season, assisting Justin Meram on August 18 against Houston Dynamo FC.

2020 Hamburger SV (Germany): Wood finished his time at Hamburger SV with 12 goals and three assists in 76 career appearances.

2018-2019 Hannover 96 (Germany): In 2018, Wood was loaned to Hannover 96 and made a total of 22 appearances while recording three goals and two assists.

2016-2018 Hamburger SV (Germany): Wood made the move to Hamburger SV of Germany’s top flight in the summer of 2016. On August 27 of that year, Wood made his Bundesliga debut and scored a goal in a 1-1 draw against FC Ingolstadt. He scored his second Bundesliga goal in his very next appearance in a 3-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen on September 10. Wood went on to score five goals and assist twice in 28 appearances in his first season with the club.

2015-2016 FC Union Berlin (Germany): After a move to Union Berlin mid-2015, Wood’s goalscoring exploded and the forward broke the record for goals scored by an American in a single season in Germany’s top two leagues in his first season.Throughout his two seasons in Berlin, Wood scored 17 goals and recorded three assists in 32 appearances for the club. In addition, Wood started several matches alongside current teammate Damir Kreilach who captained FC Union Berlin at the time.

2011-2015 1860 Munich (Germany): Following three seasons with the 1860 Munich youth academy, Wood made his professional debut for 1860 Munich on January 29, 2011 as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against MSV Duisburg. Wood earned his first start for Munich on November 27, 2012 in a 1-0 victory over SC Paderborn. Three days later, Wood scored his first professional goal for Munich in a 1-1 draw with VfR Aalen. Wood finished his career at 1860 Munich with three goals and six assists in 54 appearances for the first team and 11 goals and six assists in 45 matches with 1860 Munich II.

International Career (USA)

2013-2018: On August 14, 2013, Wood made his international debut as a substitute in 4-3 victory in a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina. His first international goal for the first team came as a game-winner in a 4-3 win over Netherlands in a friendly on June 5, 2015. Wood’s second career international goal was also a game-winner in a friendly against Germany just five days later on June 10. In total, Wood has scored 13 goals in 45 appearances for the USMNT.

2010-2011: Wood appeared in seven matches for the U.S. U-20 and U-23 squads, scoring four goals.
