Real Salt Lake returns to America First Field for the fifth consecutive time in the last 15 days this Wednesday, closing out its extended homestand by hosting FC Dallas. Maintaining a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions in August, but without an MLS win since May 16, RSL will look to reverse recent history that has tilted in the Texas side’s favor.

This edition of storylines highlights an RSL rookie’s stellar start to the season, while breaking down the Club's recent history against Dallas.

Solans On Track For Historic Rookie Campaign

With a thunderous near-post strike that gave RSL the late lead Saturday, Spanish rookie Sergi Solans scored his eighth MLS goal of the season (and 12th in all competitions) against Minnesota. The in-form Spaniard has become the focal point of RSL’s offense this season, leading the Club’s Golden Boot race in addition to providing the most MLS goal contributions on the roster (8G / 3A). Solans has been on fire since returning from the international break, scoring in four of the Claret-and-Cobalt’s five August matches, including an active three-game scoring streak heading into Wednesday.

Through 18 games in 2026, the 22-year old striker is on pace to break several RSL rookie records. Already at eight MLS goals, Solans is now tied with former Academy man Corey Baird for the most in a season by a Real Salt Lake rookie. Baird hit the mark in 2018, which in addition to his five assists, earned him MLS Rookie of the Year honors that season. With 16 MLS games left to play, Solans looks primed to shatter those numbers in his first year with RSL, with a chance to take sole possession of the rookie scoring record Wednesday.

Looking To End Recent Hardships Against Dallas

If RSL wants to snap its five-game winless streak in MLS, it will need to put together a complete performance against a team it has struggled against in recent history. Dallas is unbeaten in its last four games against the Utah side, and has only dropped one of its last 10 matches against RSL dating back to 2022. What's more, in Real Salt Lake’s 22-year history, no team has a better road record in Utah than Dallas, which has won 10 games on the Wasatch Front since 2005.

Led by Croatian World Cup star Petar Musa —the League's leading goalscorer with 14 goals in 17 games— the Texas side will be dangerous in attack. RSL’s defense will need to be up to the challenge, hosting a side that has scored against RSL in 13 consecutive matches dating back to 2020 (24 total goals).

Despite recent hardships against Dallas, RSL is in a good position to turn the tides of the matchup on Wednesday. The Claret-and-Cobalt is undefeated in all competitions in August, claiming two wins, three draws and qualifying to Leagues Cup Quarterfinals for the first time in history. RSL also has a formidable record at home this season, now 10-1-2 (W-L-T) while outscoring visitors 31-11 at America First Field.

Playing in front of fans for the last time until September 5, Wednesday’s matchup provides a must-see opportunity for RSL to get back to winning ways. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MT, with tickets available for purchase here.
