Real Salt Lake invites all fans and staff members to join in the Club’s next RSL Family Initiative at the ALS Association’s walk on October 15.

The walk will be taking place at Sugar House Park with check-in starting at 10:00 am and the walk starting at 11:00 am.

RSL’s VP of Communications and Public Relations, John Genna, was diagnosed with ALS in July and the Club is throwing its full support behind him.

Genna wishes for his legacy to be to generate funds to support research to find a cure for ALS and the RSL Foundation will match all donations made by RSL fans and staff.

“I want my legacy to be that I can impact the research,” said Genna. “I don’t want the next person that comes after me to hear the doctor say they have ALS and have that sinking feeling that I had. I want to change that, that’s what I want my legacy to be.”

The Club will also be auctioning off game worn jersey's from the team's October 9 Decision Day match against the Portland Timbers with the proceeds going to ALS research.

"As a Club, we want to support John in whatever way we can and his wish to raise money and awareness for ALS research so we're committed now and in the future John in his fight," said RSL Director of Community & Player Engagement, Kyle Schroeder.

You can listen to Genna speak to Brian Dunseth, and hear RSL Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni and RSL Director of PR Trey Fitzgerald speak on the impact they've made on their lives on here on Spotify or Apple Music.
