FRISCO, Texas (Monday, April 11, 2022) — The Real Salt Lake Academy U17s are set to finish the group stage of the 2022 Generation Adidas Cup, on Tuesday, April 12 at 8:00 a.m. MT against Houston Dynamo FC.

After back-to-back 1-1 draws against CF Montreal and Tigres UANL, the Claret-and-Cobalt must win Tuesday’s match, as well as maintain a positive goal differential, in order to remain in contention for a wild card spot in the knockout round. The winner of each of the 10 groups automatically qualify for the knockouts, with the second place finishers being seeded, allowing the top six to move on as wild card picks.

The team is currently in third place of Group C based on goal differential, behind Houston Dynamo. However, Houston has a negative two goal differential, having beat Montreal 1-0, but lost to Tigres 2-0.

Real Salt Lake’s 1-1 draw against Tigres UANL came as a result of midfielder Izzy Amparo’s second goal in two games, the only two goals for the Claret-and-Cobalt thus far in the tournament.

Kickoff against Houston is set for 8:00 a.m. MT, the match will not be streamed, but score updates for the match can be found by following RSL Academy’s social channels.
