HERRIMAN, Utah (Sunday, June 11, 2023) – Real Salt Lake midfielder Braian Ojeda has been selected to the Paraguay National Team for their upcoming friendly against Nicaragua in preparation for World Cup Qualifiers later this year.
The 22-year-old has made 16 appearances in the RSL midfield during the regular season, and featured in each of the team’s four U.S. Open Cup wins thus far. His ability to find open space in the middle of the pitch and draw defenders has resulted in a team-leading 22 fouls conceded.
Ojeda arrived in Utah last year on loan from current Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
Since 2017, he has represented Paraguay at the U-17, U-20, and U-23 levels in the South American Championships, U-17 World Cup, and CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic tournament. He made his senior debut on September 2, 2021 in a 2-0 loss to Ecuador in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
Paraguay will take on Nicaragua in an international friendly on Sunday, June 18 in Asunción, making him unavailable for RSL’s matches against D.C. United on Saturday, June 17 and at St. Louis CITY FC on Wed., June 21.
