Real Monarchs to Face U.S. U-17 National Team in Scrimmage

SANDY, Utah (Friday, August 12, 2016) – Real Monarchs will host the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team in a friendly at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, on August 20.  The scrimmage, scheduled to kickoff at 10 a.m., is part of the U-17’s preparation for the 2016 Torneo Naciones de Mexico, set to take place August 22-29 in Mexico City, where the USA will take on Portugal on August 25, Qatar on August 26 and finish the tournament against Mexico on August 28.


On Thursday, U.S. U-17 Head Coach John Hackworth named a 24-player roster for the camp, which will base in Park City between August 14-22.  Included on the roster is Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy midfielder and Eden, Utah, native Taylor Booth.


The USA will play two club friendlies during camp: the first against Utah Valley University at Trailside Park in Park City at 10 a.m. on August 16 and the second against the Monarchs on August 20.


This will be the second tournament of the summer after the U-17’s made it to the title match in the 2016 AIFF Youth Cup in India last May.
