Anderson Julio’s Second-Half Heroics Gives Real Salt Lake Crucial Road Point

Man of the Match: Super Sub Anderson Julio stepped onto the pitch and made an immediate impact, netting the equalizer that gave RSL the much needed point on the road. Julio found the net with his head on a deep cross from defender Aaron Herrera. The forward continued to put the pressure on Dallas throughout his 30 minutes on the pitch, leading the Club in shots and shots on target with three and two respectively. Additionally, Julio’s goal marked his eighth as a substitute in 31 matches, more than any other RSL player during the last two seasons.

Telling Stat: With tonight’s draw, Real Salt Lake extends its undefeated streak in Dallas to five-consecutive matches. RSL has now earned four draws and one win at Toyota Stadium in its last five meetings, the most recent victory being a 2-1 win for the Claret-and-Cobalt on October 27, 2021 led by winger Justin Meram that helped propel the Club into the 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs. The last time Real Salt Lake lost in Dallas was June 3, 2017 when the Club fell to the Texas-side 6-2.

Second-half substitute Anderson Julio’s 69th minute equalizer stole the point in the Lone Star state and added a second goal to his account in the 2022 season. RSL Homegrown Aaron Herrera earned his second assist of the season while midfielder Pablo Ruiz was all over the pitch, impacting the game on the offensive and defensive end.
