Carlos Castrejon Named to U-16 Mexico National Team Camp

HERRIMAN, Utah (Monday, September 5, 2022) – Real Salt Lake Academy defender Carlos Castrejon has been named by Head Coach Adrian Sanchez to the Mexico U-16 Youth National Team Camp, his third call up to the age group this year.

Castrejon, 15, joined the RSL Academy prior to the 2021-22 MLS NEXT season and was a consistent piece in the U-15 RSL squad that were runners-up in the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup. The defender will join Head Coach Andrew May and the U-17 side for the 2022-23 MLS NEXT Season.

Castrejon has been a mainstay for El Tri’s youth ranks since joining the RSL Academy, earning multiple call ups within the past year. Most recently, the young midfielder was called into the U-16 Mexican National Team for the Gradisca Tournament in Italy, competing against Romania and Czech Republic. As a dual-national, Castrejon has also been selected for previous U-15 United States Youth National Team camps, and he can continue to represent both countries until he reaches the senior International level.

The RSL Academy is set to return from the summer break next month with the regular season set to kick off on Saturday, September 10 against Rocky Mountain foes Colorado Rapids.
