Real Salt Lake Returns Home to Host Houston Dynamo FC

HERRIMAN, Utah(Friday, June 25, 2021) – Real Salt Lake returns to Rio Tinto Stadium to host Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, June 26 at 6:00 p.m. MT.


The match will be broadcast locally on KMYU and via stream on the KSL TV app. ESPN 700 will carry the English radio broadcast and Spanish-speaking fans can tune in on KBMG Latino 106.3, La Gran D 102.3 and KTUB 1600. 


Real Salt Lake will host a group from the Unified Fire Authority that will be honored during the game.

Head-to-Head:Real Salt Lake has a 11-12-7 record against the Houston Dynamo with an 8-2-5 record at home.


The two sides have not faced one another since the 2019 season when Real Salt Lake handed Houston a 2-1 defeat behind the fastest goal in Club history from forward Corey Baird and an additional goal from Jefferson Savarino. The victory punched RSL’s ticket into the 2019 Audio MLS Cup Playoffs.

Here We Go Again

Both Real Salt Lake and Houston Dynamo FC enter Saturday’s contest on the heels of two games already this week, with the matchup marking the third in nine days for RSL and the third in eight for Houston. Real Salt Lake picked up a 1-1-0 record already this week, while Houston tallied two draws.


The Rio Tinto Fortress

Real Salt Lake has not lost to Houston since May 31, 2017 when the team fell 5-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium. RSL is 6-1-3 against Houston at Rio Tinto Stadium with the lone defeat coming in 2016.


Connections: RSL Assistant Coach Pablo Mastroeni previously served in the same position under Houston Dynamo Head Coach Tab Ramos before joining Freddy Juarez and his staff at Real Salt Lake. Similarly, one of Houston’s assistants, Martin Vasquez, led the Real Monarchs at the beginning of the 2019 USL Championship season and was a longtime fixture in the coaching ranks with the RSL Academy.  RSL forward Rubio Rubin and defenders Justen Glad and Aaron Herrera each played in the FIFA U-20 World Cup under Ramos while he served as U.S. U-20 National Team Head Coach.
