Man of the Match: Colombian midfielder Brayan Gómez had a memorable and energetic debut for the Monarchs. He created multiple opportunities for the home side throughout the match and made several key passes into dangerous areas on the pitch, providing a much needed spark to the team’s attack.


Telling Stat: Despite the scoreline, the Real Monarchs outshot their opponent seven shots to five, including three shots compared to the other side’s one, but the New Mexico United defense managed to hold strong and secure the shut out.


What You Missed: Two players made their debuts for Real Monarchs in tonight’s match. 19-year-old Irish defender Timi Sobowale and 22-year-old Brayam Gómez each earned a spot in the starting XI. In addition, 14-year-old Academy goalkeeper Fernando Delgado earned a spot on the Monarchs’ bench, behind 17-year-old Jeff Dewsnup.
