Game at a Glance: RSL Picks Up Last Minute Point Against FC Dallas

Real Salt Lake 2 vs. FC Dallas 2
May 22, 2021; Toyota Stadium
Real Salt Lake (2-1-2, 8 points); FC Dallas (1-2-3, 6 points)

Man of the Match: With minutes dwindling down it looked as if Real Salt Lake may drop their second match of the season after going down 2-1 in the 84th minute. Moments later the most clutch man at RSL, Damir Kreilach, once again rescued the team, connecting on a long, lofting ball from Aaron Herrera to equalize and earn the hard-fought point on the road. The Croatian has now scored 32 goals across all competitions, the sixth-most in club history.
Telling Stat: In just his sixth MLS appearance, goalkeeper David Ochoa more than doubled his previous career high for saves, making eight to keep Real Salt Lake in the match. The 20 year old will miss next week’s match against Minnesota United as he heads to Switzerland with the United States National Team for a friendly on Sunday, May 30.
What You Missed: Forward Rubio Rubin netted his fourth goal in five matches, tied for the third-most in the league. Midfielder Nick Besler assisted on the goal, his third-career MLS assist. Damir Kreilach’s equalizing goal was his second to find the back of the net during the 2021 season, assisted by Aaron Herrera.
So What:RSL is just one of six teams in the league to be undefeated when on the road this season, having previously defeated Minnesota United at Allianz Field and now drawn with FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium. The team returns to Rio Tinto Stadium this Saturday against Minnesota United on May 29 at 7:30 p.m. MT.
