Real Salt Lake Parts Ways with Assistant Coach Matt Glaeser

HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, January 15, 2021) - Real Salt Lake Head Coach Freddy Juarez announced today that the club has mutually agreed to part ways with Real Salt Lake and Real Monarchs Assistant Coach Matt Glaeser so he can join the staff of former Monarchs Head Coach Mark Briggs at Sacramento Republic FC.
“We want to thank Matt for his work bringing championships to the Monarchs and adding his expertise to the RSL staff.  Since he arrived with Mark Briggs in 2017, he has been a tremendous addition to the organization and when the opportunity arose for him to work with Mark again, we were open to him pursuing that option and wish him the best with Sacramento,” said RSL Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations Rob Zarkos.
Glaeser joined the Real Monarchs coaching staff in 2017 and helped the team earn its first trophy, lifting the 2017 USL Regular Season Shield.  In 2019, the Monarchs won its first ever United Soccer League Championship title.
“The Club would like to thank Matt for the dedication he has shown to his craft throughout his tenure at Real Salt Lake,” Assistant General Manager Tony Beltran said. “His efforts at all levels have contributed greatly to moving the Club into the level of elite development it aspires to be. We wish him all the best in his next endeavor with Sacramento.”
Earlier this month Juarez announced that Assistant Coach Pablo Mastroeni and Goalkeeper Coach Ignacio “Nacho” Hernandez joined the first team staff. The club will immediately begin a search to round out the rest of the staff.
