Tziarra King and Raisa Strom-Okimoto Share Humanitarian of the Year Award

SANDY, UTAH (Monday, November 30, 2020) – Utah Royals FC in conjunction with the RSL Foundation have named Tziarra King and Raisa Strom-Okimoto Co-Humanitarians of the Year for the 2020 season.
Amidst the most challenging of times, the Utah Royals FC was led by King and Strom-Okimoto in choosing to immerse themselves in the Salt Lake City and Utah communities, highlighted by the Superhero Spotlight Series.
As the team returned from quarantine and prepared for the NWSL Challenge Cup there was an overwhelming desire for community involvement, spurred on by the increased visibility of social justice causes and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Both King and Strom-Okimoto expressed a desire to shine light on local organizations that were doing the work that they themselves could not do, giving them a platform to share their message and hoping to bring about awareness for further participation from others in the surrounding area.

In a short period the team selected three non-profit organizations; Journey of Hope, CAPSA and Utah Pride Center. With each non-profit the team visited with staff members, toured the facilities and participated in a service project.  King and Strom-Okimoto join past URFC Humanitarian of the Year winners Amy Rodriguez (2018) and Abby Smith (2019).
