Real Monarchs Fall to El Paso Locomotive FC 1-0

EL PASO, Texas (Saturday, September 19, 2020) – Real Monarchs (3-9-1, 10 points) fell 1-0 to El Paso Locomotive FC at Southwest University Park on Saturday night.

El Paso defender Eder Borelli scored the lone goal of the match for Locomotive FC in the 1-0 victory.

In what was largely a possession-filled first half, the final five minutes of the half ended wildly. In the 45th minute following a Real Monarchs corner kick, midfielder Ricardo Ávila collected the ball in the box and fired a shot on frame, but it was deflected away and out. Three minutes later in added time, Locomotive FC defender Eder Borelli buried a header back across the face of goal and inside the far post to El Paso the lead at halftime.

Locomotive FC looked to double the lead in the 80th minute, but David Ochoa punched the ball out with a jumping save to keep the Monarchs within striking distance. Despite several chances for the away side late in the second half, the match ended 1-0.
