Real Monarchs Welcome El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday

HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, August 14, 2020) – Real Monarchs are set to return to Zions Bank Stadium on Saturday, August 15 when it hosts El Paso Locomotive FC at 8:00p MT. The match can be seen live on ESPN+ and the KSL TV app while a limited number of tickets are available for Saturday’s match.

The Monarchs and El Paso have played one other in two regular season matches since the Texas team entered the league in 2019, with both matches ending in 0-0 draws. The last time the two clubs met was in the 2019 USL Championship Western Conference Final in a match that the Monarchs scored a 120th minute game-winning goal at Zions Bank Stadium to secure their spot in the USL Championship Final with a 2-1 victory.
Saturday’s match-up will be just the 4th overall meeting between the two sides as Real Monarchs will look to claim their second consecutive win of the season and their first regular season win over El Paso Locomotive FC.

Head Coach Jamison Olave enters his first full season at the helm of the club as the permanent head coach after two successful stints as the interim head coach of the group. Olave – together with returning Assistant Coach Matt Glaeser – will look to replicate last season’s success during the club’s sixth season in the Championship.
For 2020, the Monarchs return a familiar core of players from the 2019 season as defenders James Moberg and Noah Powder lead the backline of one of the league’s most elite teams. Midfielders Jack Blake and World Cup veteran Ricardo Avila return carrying with them a slew of experience into 2020.
New faces in the squad include players with ample USL League One experience including the 2019 League One MVP Arturo Rodriguez and standouts Joe Gallardo and Chris Bermudez. RSL Academy products Jordan Pena, Damian German and Steve Jasso also exemplify the growth pipeline between the Academy and the professional ranks for the 2020 season, each returning for their second season in a Monarchs jersey. The Monarchs also welcome rookie goalkeeper Jimmy Slayton to the roster for 2020.
