SANDY, Utah (Wednesday, February 19, 2020) – Utah Royals FC defender Sydney Miramontez has announced her retirement from professional soccer.
“Earning the opportunity to play professional soccer will always be one of my greatest achievements. I have been fortunate enough to learn from many of the great talents in the game and I will forever reap the benefits of those experiences,” Miramontez said. “My time as a pro has helped me to better understand who I am, and given me the confidence to begin the next chapter of my life. To play in the NWSL has been a true honor, and to play for a club like Utah Royals FC has been nothing short of a dream. Thank you to my teammates, coaches, staff and fans who have made my time in Salt Lake City special. I look forward to cheering all of you on in my next career.”
“We'd like to thank Sydney for her contribution to Utah Royals FC these past two years, she will always be a part of our history and we look forward to seeing what she does next.” General Manager Stephanie Lee said.
